Hi everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing day and are staying safe. I want to focus more on writing discussion posts as I find these so interesting to read and so I want to make these posts more of a staple here.
Let’s Talk Bookish is a bookish meme created by Rukky at Eternity Books and Dani at Literary Lion and is now being hosted by Aria over at Book Nook Bits. Each month they come up with a list of topics for us all to discuss and share our opinions on as well as spreading the love by reading each others posts.
Character or Plot Focused Books? (Brooke @ The Reader’s Game)
Prompts: What makes a book more character focused? What makes one more plot focused? Which do you prefer? Do you have any recommendations for plot focused and character focused books?
So for me a character focused book is one where the characters are at the forefront where their stories and their development are the most important aspect of the book. These books still have a plot line but the plot is often slower paced and comes secondary to the characters own arcs. Whereas a plot focused book is more fast paced has a lot more action to it and while the characters are still important they aren’t quite as well developed as they are in character focused ones.
So as you may know character driven books are by far my favorite. While plots are important to a story the characters are what draws me in they are what I connect most with in a book and so a story where the focus is on these characters, their development and relationships is always going to come out on top over any other book and is why my favorites are all character focused.

Some of my favorite character focused books are:
- Circe by Madeline Millar.
- Under the Whispering Door by T. J. Klune.
- The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
- House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas.
- Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.
Do you prefer character focused or plot focused books?
I love character focused books too and five of your list are favourites of mine! (not yet read House of earth and Blood)
