Hi everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing day and are staying safe. It’s been a while since I last took part in a tag post and since I was recently tagged by Jordyn at Jordyn Reads it seemed like a really fun one to do. You should also all go and check out Jordyn’s blog if you don’t already follow her.

Questions
What is your fantasy origin story? (The first fantasy you read)

This is really hard because I have been a reader my whole life and fantasy has always been my favorite genre. But one of the main books that stand out to me is The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. My gran use to read this to me when I was really young and it always stuck out to me.
If you could be the hero/heroine in a fantasy novel, who would be the author and what’s one trope you’d insist be in the story?
I’m going to steal Jordyn’s answer and go with Sarah J Maas because who doesn’t want an enemies to lovers romance with a sexy faerie 🤣
What is a fantasy series you’ve read this year, that you want more people to read?

I haven’t really read many fantasy series this year, but one that I have read and loved is Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas.
What is your favorite fantasy subgenre?
Grimdark all the way, I don’t really know why but I’m definitely more drawn to the grimdark fantasies than any other.
What subgenre have you not read much from?
I don’t read an awful lot of portal fantasy to be honest, I also don’t read superhero fantasy either.
Who is one of your auto-buy fantasy authors?

I’m going to have to go with Sarah J. Maas as she is one author that I have read pretty much everything she has written. Though Gail Carriger is also up there.
How do you typically find fantasy recommendations? (Goodreads, Youtube, Podcasts, Instagram…)
Mostly from here, booktube and instagram.
What is an upcoming fantasy release you’re excited for?

Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid is one I’m most excited for and comes out later this month.
What is one misconception about fantasy you would like to lay to rest?
That they are hard to read or get through. Yes some of them take longer and have more complex plots and worlds but there are also lots out there that are really fast paced and don’t take a lot of energy to understand. You just have to find the style that works best for you.
If someone had never read a fantasy before and asked you to recommend the first 3 books that come to mind as places to start, what would those recommendations be?

I think if someone hadn’t read fantasy before o would go with ones that faster paced but also have different au genres to help then figure out what they enjoy. The Shadowhunters is a great one to introduce urban and paranormal fantasy, The Diviners is great for historical fantasy with a horror atmosphere. And Strange the Dreamer is a great introduction to high fantasy.
Who is the most recent fantasy reading content creator you came across that you’d like to shoutout?
I recently followed is Kerri McBookNerd
