Hi everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing day and are staying safe. Happy Pride month everyone, I honestly can’t believe we are almost halfway through the year all ready.
May has been a busy month for me, I finally visited NYC one of my best friends from home came up to visit me and we had a great time despite all of the whole time. The summer weather has also finally started and my host family opened their pool for the season so I have been making the most it while I can.
So while I have been making the most of the nice weather, I haven’t been reading that much and only picked up three books in May.
The first book was Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Clare. This is a short horror novella and one I have been wanting to pick up since it was released. This story has such an interesting premise, is filled with Japanese folklore and the suspense and atmosphere is really well done. I gave this 4 out of 5 Stars.
This month I was extremely lucky enough to receive a NetGalley ARC of The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This book exceeded all expectations. Silvia is such a talented writer, this book will pull you in right from the get go and leave you wanting more. This is one of my favorite reads of the year so far and I gave it 5 out of 5 stars and have a full review to come.
Lastly this month I read a poetry collection. Aphrodite Made Me Do It by Trista Mateer, this was such a well written collection that explores to be a survivor of assault and and what it’s like to have your story pushed to the side and rewritten to suit other narratives. A very powerful read and gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
I finally watched Spiderman No Way Home, and it was definitely worth the wait and this is now one of my favorite Marvel movies and if you have seen it you will know why.
