Hi everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing day and staying safe. Today I thought I would take part in another Let’s Talk Bookish meme post. This is a meme hosted by Rukky at Eternity Books and Dani at Literary Lion and each month they come up with a list of topics for us all to discuss and share our opinions on as well as spreading the love by reading each others posts.
November 12: Balancing Reading for your Blog and Other Hobbies (Dani)
Prompts: Reading enough to keep a blog running can be stressful in the best of times, but what happens when other hobbies start to get in the way? Do you force yourself to prioritize reading even when you want to be drawing/knitting/playing music/watching a new show/gaming? Has another hobby ever made you miss a reading goal? What is your strategy to balance reading among your other hobbies?
Not going to lie I’m not the greatest at structuring my time however it is something that I am working on and hope that I am better than I use to be at but probably not. My biggest issue with this is that I go through stages of being really into one thing and not wanting to do anything else to then moving onto something else. For example I will spend a few weeks really obsessed with my Nintendo Switch and not want to do anything else in my spare time and then it will suddenly change and for the next few weeks you won’t see me without a book in my hand. I have also noticed that this can be a big indicator of how I am feeling as if I’m feeling overwhelmed or worn out I don’t want to do anything but binge watch TV because I don’t have to use much brain power for that.
However, this does mean that keeping on top of things can be pretty difficult. I do try to prioritize my reading and make it a goal to read a little every night before I go to bed even if it’s just a couple of pages and again my success with this varies. Sometimes it can go pretty well and I can stick with it for a while and then other times it just goes completely out of the window.
Therefore, I have yet to find a strategy that really works for me and if you have any of your own strategies or advice when it comes to this then I am all ears as clearly I could use all the help I can get.
Great post! I’m the opposite when it comes to TV. When I’m sad or not feeling great I end up watching less TV than when I am feeling okay. When it comes to reading I try to read a few pages every day of whatever book I’m reading. Although, because of that it usually takes me a few months to finish reading a book, lol.

I definitely get caught up in TV when I am feeling meh. I don’t know, it’s almost like it requires less of a commitment than reading does. Lately, I’ve been into crocheting which can be pretty time consuming, but I’ve been balancing it out with audiobooks. I love that I can do audiobooks while I crochet or clean or walk my dog. Makes me feel like I am being productive in the reading department even if I don’t have time to sit down with a physical book in hand.

TV definitely seems like less of a commitment when you aren’t feel great and audiobooks seem so great but for some reason I just can’t focus on them but so glad they work for you 💜😊

I am also not the best at it. I try to set aside time every week to write on my blog but time just gets away with you. I find it especially difficult having a book blog and also barely finding time to read when everything’s so busy
