Sunshine Blogger Award

Hi everyone I hope you are all having an amazing day. We are currently having a heat wave inthe UK abs I can honestly say I have never longed for the rain so much. It’s not so bad during the day when you can go out and do things but the nights are hell. The other day it was 25 degrees out sode and 27 so it is safe to say that I haven’t slept in days so if anyone has any tips to help cool down I am all ears.

Anyway, moving on from my complaining I was tagged by Cherry from Letters To The Lost to take part in the Sunshine Blogger Award.

The Questions

How did you come up with your blog name?

Basically I love travel and I’ve always seen reading as a way to not only travel to places you could never go to in in real life but I also feel that the characters in stories all go on their own journey and by reading the book you get to go on that journey with them and this is where Journey into Books came into my mind.

What is your most anticipated release of this year?

My most anticipated release of the year was One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston and is also my favourite read if the year so far.

What’s your most recent read?

My most recent read was Paris by Starlight by Robert Dinsdale. This is such a beautifully written book and feels like you are reading a fairytale.

Who is your top auto buy author?

Without a doubt Gail Carriger she isn’t an author I see people mention often but I adore her work and writing style and her books never fail to leave me smiling.

What is your favorite aesthetic?

I find this question so hard to answer as I have two aesthetics that I adore and I honestly can’t pick between them. The first is the dark gothic/alternative aesthetic and the second is cottagecore.

What is your favorite form of creativity?

This is another hard one but if I had to pick it would be blogging as this is sometime I have been doing for 5 years now and I still enjoy it.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Definitely interacting with you guys and reading other people’s posts.

If you could automatically know any language, which would it be?

There are so many languages I would love to learn but the main one is Gaelic as this is technically the first language of my country and yet so few people actually speak it.

What are your favorite tropes?

Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, fake dating, a here comes the cavalry twist, anti-hero/morally grey characters, a good villain redemption arc and found family.

What are your least favourite tropes?

Insta-love, love triangle, amnesia, not like other girls and groundhog day.

What is your favourite book quote of all time?

I have so many how am I supposed to pick just one 😱😱 therefore here a a few that I love.

“You’re a storyteller. Dream up something wild and improbable,” she pleaded. “Something beautiful and full of monsters.” “Beautiful and full of monsters?” “All the best stories are.”

Strange the Dreamer by Lani Taylor

“Someone needs to tell those tales. When the battles are fought and won and lost, when the pirates find their treasures and the dragons eat their foes for breakfast with a nice cup of Lapsang souchong, someone needs to tell their bits of overlapping narrative. There’s magic in that. It’s in the listener, and for each and every ear it will be different, and it will affect them in ways they can never predict. From the mundane to the profound. You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone’s soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

We find what is beautiful in what is broken. We find what is heartening in what is terrifying. We find the stars in the woods’ deepest shadows.”

Anna-Marie McLemore

“I hope you summon your courage and you invite your demons to tea, and you learn to listen to all their stories.”

Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill

  1. I’ve really been struggling with this heat too. Today has felt a lot cooler for me thankfully but I’ve not been loving the indoor temperatures this past week – yesterday our thermostat read 28.5 degrees which is far too hot inside. I cannot wait for the rain we’re meant to get next week.
