Hi everyone I hope you’ve all had an amazing August. I wasn’t up to too much in August as I spent the beginning of the month ill and the last two weeks back at placement but in between I manged to have a few good nights out with my family and friends, mostly to the cinema.
Despite being busy with placement the passed two weeks and being ill I managed to read 9 books and I DNFed 1.
The first book I read was The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury. This is an Aladdin retelling that I really enjoyed and gave 4 out of 5 stars to.
Then I read was Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. This was a reread and I loved it even more this time round. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
I also read The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. This is one of the darkest books I have ever read but also one of the best fantasies I have had the pleasure of reading an I loved every second of this book. I gave this 5 out of 5 stars. Review to come.
Next I read The Earth, My Butt and other Big Round Things and The Universe is Expanding and So Am I by Carolyn Mackler. This is an awesome contemporary series that focuses on loving yourself and being confident in your body. I really enjoyed both these books and gave them both 4 out of 5 stars. Review to come.
Then I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This was my favourite read of the month and I completely feel in love with Evelyn Hugo she is my new bi icon and her story had me invested from the beginning. I gave this 5 out of 5 stars. Review here.
This month I continued on with my reread of The Mortal Instruments by reading City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars.
The last book I read this month was Daughter of Light and Shadows by Anna McKerrow. This was an enjoyable fey book with lots of witchy vibes that I gave 4 out of 5 stars to. Review to come.
This month I DNFed In The Presence of Evil by Tania Bayard. I failed to become engaged with the story and wasn’t invested in the characters.

I have seen Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again 3 times this month as it is amazing. It’s cheesy AF but I loved ever moment of it. It’s such a great feel good movie and it’s on par with the first film though some of the details aren’t quick true to the first one.
I also saw Ant Man and the Wasp. This is another awesome Marvel movie and I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first.
I saw Hotel Transylvania 3. I loved this movie just as much as the previous two and I have been feeling the Halloween vibes ever since I watched it.
This month I also had the pleasure of watching To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I haven’t read the book so I can’t comment on how true to the original it was but I really enjoyed it. It’s such a cute romcom, I feel in love with the characters and we definitely need more diverse movies like this.
This month I watch season 6 of Orange is The New Black. While I love this show I do think that the first few series are the best.
This month I have done nothing but listen to the Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again soundtrack on repeat.
How has your month been?
