Underrated Female Heroes Book Tag

Hi Everyone, I hope you’re all having an amazing day. I was tagged by the awesome  Mandy from Book Princess Reviews to do the Underrated Female Heroes Book tag.

  • Please PINGBACK to the creator at Kate @ Melting Pots and Other Calamities.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Choose female characters from books, movies, TV, anime, Webtoons, etc.
  • Tag as many people as you want, but at least one person.
  • Have fun!

Name a heroine you like, but whom you feel is always overshadowed by the male characters in the story

Elena Gilbert from The Vampire Diaries series. I love her but she definitely gets overshadowed by the Salvatore brothers.

For that matter, name a heroine whom you feel is always overshadowed by the other female characters in the story

For this I would go with Elide from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. She is my favourite character in the series but I feel she is overshadowed by some of the other strong willed women in the series.

Name a character who had potential but was greatly underutilized in her story

Elain from the ACOTAR Series by Sarah J. Maas. I feel like everyone just passed her off as the weak and uninteresting sister but I feel that there is more to her than anyone knows and I hope we get to see this in later books.

Name a female character who you either find better in her book than her movie, find better in her movie than her book, or whose portrayals you find equal

Book Ginny from the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling is much better than movie Ginny. I don’t think they did her character justice in the movies at all.

Name a character who you want more backstory on

Sorscha from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I really loved her character and wish we had gotten more from her and learned more about her.

Name a character with traits you feel are sadly overlooked by everyone

Sansa Stark from the A Song of Ice and Fire Series by George R.R. Martin. I feel there is a lot more to Sansa than what everyone sees.

Name a morally grey character. (Villain or anti hero!)

For this I have to go with Mia from the Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff.

A character you’re stunned isn’t more famous

Riley Blackthorne from The Demon Trappers Series by Jana Oliver. She is such a kickass character and I wish more people knew about her.

A character from a piece of fiction you’re amazed isn’t more famous

Sophronia from The Finishing School Series by Gail Carriger. She is another character that I adore and feel she deserves to be more well known.

  1. Oooh I loved your answers, Michaela! I agreed with so many of them. I totally agree about Elena. I feel like she never gets talked about because everyone is talking about Damon or Stefan – and I mean get their epicness but also Elena?? And I totally agree about Elain as well! I feel like she has a lot of depth, but she always get touched on last. These were such great picks, Michaela, and it was a lot of fun to read! 🙂

    1. Thank you and thanks so much for the tag it was really fun to do. While I love Stefan and Damon Elena deserved a bigger share of the spotlight and I just feel that there is a lot more to Elain that we just haven’t seen 😀💜
