Wrap Ups and Hauls

June Wrap Up

Hi everyone, I hope you all had an amazing month. I for one am exhausted as I’ve been so busy this month with moving house and my placement but I have now official finished second year and am looking forward to the next 7 weeks of freedom. I am also going to Las Vegas next week and I can’t wait to see the sights.

Books

This month I’ve been a little all over the place as I only read 4 books and 2 manga volumes and I DNFed 3 books which is the most books I’ve ever DNFed at the one time before.

The first book I DNFed was Lancelot by Giles Kristian. I really wanted to like this one but it was just so slow paced and it failed to keep my attention for very long. I may pick this one up again in the future but for now it just wasn’t for me.

The next book I DNFed was After Alice by Gregory Maguire. I love Alice and Wonderland but unfortunately I just couldn’t force myself to read another page of this.

The last book I DNFed this month was Soundless by Richelle Mead. This was another book that just failed to grab my attention.

Bookshop Girl by Chloe Coles. This was a quick, fun read though I think I would have enjoyed it more had I been younger. I gave this 3 out of 5 stars. Review here.

Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence. This was by far my favourite read of this month and was an amazing sequel to Red Sister. I gave this 5 out of 5 stars.

What Kitty Did Next by Carrie Kablean. This is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice following the story of Kitty. I really loved delving back into this world and learning more about kitty. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. Review here.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Uprooted by Naomi Novik but am so glad I decided to give her another go as Spinning Silver is an amazing story. I gave this 5 out of 5 stars. Review to come.

This month I also read the first two volumes of Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida. I’ve been wanting to read this manga series for a while now so I was really happy when I saw these two in my local library and I was not disappointed. I gave both of these volumes 4 out 5 stars.

Haul

While this wasn’t my favourite Star Wars movie it was still a really enjoyable watch.

I took my dad to see Jurassic World: Fallen kingdom for Father’s day and we both loved it.

TV Shows

I watched season 2 of 13 Reasons Why this month and loved it. I completely understand why people don’t like this and I agree that there is a certain scene in season 1 that should not have been shown and several other graphic scenes that are hard to watch. However, personally I adore this series.

This season was even better than the first one which I didn’t think was possible and I can’t wait for season 3 to come out.

Panic! At The Disco dropped their new album Pray For The Wicked last week and I’m in love with it. All of these songs are so amazing some of my favourites being High Hopes, Roaring 20s, Dying in LA and King of the Clouds.

How was your month? Have you listened to Pray For The Wicked yet, if so what did you think of it?
