Wrap Ups and Hauls

March Wrap Up

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having an amazing day. This has been a bit of a mixed month, my gorgeous dog that I have had since I was 6 died which was heart-breaking but I also had some good times as my best friend came down from Edinburgh for a weekend so it was great catching up with her. I also hit 200 subscribers this month and want to thank everyone who follows me for supporting the blog.

Books

Overall my readings been alright but I did have moments were I went days without picking up anything. I read 8 books this month.

19547856

The first book I read was Simon vs, The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I read this during the beast from the east and really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the movie coming out. I gave this books 4 stars out of 5 stars.

I finished The Memoirs of Lady Trent and really enjoyed it. It took a while to get into to her writing style and the slower pace of the story but once I did I feel in love. It was definitely the dragon story I have ben waiting for. I gave the second book 3.75 stars and the rest 4 out of 5 stars.

I also read To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo. This was a book I was really excited to read unfortunately it feel really flat. I was not invested in the story at all, I couldn’t care less about the characters. Overall I just wasn’t impressed with this book at all and gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

The last two books I read was Truthwitch and Windwitch by Susan Dennard. I was on the fence about this series but when I saw these in my local library i decided to give them ago and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I gave the first book 3.5 out of 5 stars and the second 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I’ve been doing really great with my book buying ban and only hauled To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo which was a pre-order.

Usually I write a separate post for my movie and tv wrap up but I have decided to combine the tow posts.

Movies and TV

I have only seen one movie this month and though I have started a few TV shows I haven’t finished many.

the-shape-of-water-poster

This movie was phenomenal and completely dese everyone of the award it won. It follows character Elisa (who is mute) as she falls in love with an amphibious creature who is being held at the research facility where she works. I loved everything about this movie, this storyline was amazing, I loved the characters and how it managed to get my invested in a love story between a girl and a fish I’ll never know, though I love Beauty and the Beast so loving this shouldn’t have coma as such a surprise. If you haven’t seen it already then you really need to.

Outnumbered-Series-1-outnumbered-9644674-300-426

This month I also watched all 5 seasons of Outnumbered. This is a comedy about the ups and downs of family life. This is a really quick series to get through and is hilarious especially when you know that a lot of the things the kids say were unscripted.

How was your March? What was your favourite read this month what do you plan on reading next? Have you seen The Shape of Water, what did you think of it?

  4. Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. But I’m glad you were able to have some fun times too (with your friend). I hate to hear you didn’t like To Kill a Kingdom that much! I’ve been anxiously waiting to get my hands on a copy. But I’ve also been wanting to read Truthwitch, so glad to hear you liked those🙂

  5. I’m so sorry about your dog 😥 but I’m glad you and your BFF had fun.
Also, I’ve got To Kill a Kingdom on my April TBR which I was really looking forward too. But your disapointment has now made me take a step back and lower my expectations a bit. I’m now going to read it with more causion. So thanks for the heads up! Great post.

  6. I’m so sorry about your doggie, Michaela! Losing a family member is hard, and dogs are certainly part of it. ❤ And oh no about To Kill a Kingdom. I've been seeing that book EVERYWHERE, and I was so so excited for it. I'm going to perhaps wait a bit on it now and not order myself since that doesn't sound good. Wonderful wrap-up and sorry again!
