Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having an amazing day. I’m one of those people who get very emotional at books and always end up sobbing at the sad ones and so I thought that today I would write about some of the books that make me cry most and why.
This will contain spoilers for all of the books I mention.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This book had me sobbing for the whole of the last part starting off with Amsterdam when Hazel and Augustus are sitting on a bench and Augustus tells Hazel that his cancer is back and that it’s terminal. His exact words were “It light up like a Christmas tree” I have never been able to look at a Christmas tree without thinking about this scene ever since. Then we have the scene in the Church Basement where Augustus asks Hazel and Issac to tell him their obituaries and then the ending where Hazel reads the obituary that Augustus wrote for her. All of these scenes caused me to become a sobbing mess.
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
Again this book had me sobbing most of the way through it first when Will’s parabatai link to Jem is broken and we are lead to believe that Jem is dead, then when Will tells Tessa that Jem is dead. I then start crying again when we find out Jem is alive but is now one of the Silent Brothers and he is has to say goodbye to Tessa and then Will. Jem saying goodbye to Tessa was bad enough but when it was Wills’ turn I didn’t think I was going to get through it. And then just when I had calmed down the epilogue happened and my heart felt like it was getting ripped in half.
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
This was quite an emotional book to start off with due to it taking part during the Second World War. However, it became even more heart-breaking at the end when the street where Liesel is living is bombed and she is the sole survivor. When she is rescued and pulled from the rubble of her home and sees all of her family and friends dead bodies lined up a long the street. And then after that heartbreak my crying was set off again but on a more happier note when Max, the Jewish man the was hiding in Liesels’ house before he was found and sent to a concentration camp, turns up alive.
What I’ve found with sad books is that there is always the big thing that happens in the book that has me sobbing and then right at the end the author has to add something else that starts me off all over again.
Did any of these book make you cry? What are some of the other books that make you cry?
Champion by Marie Lu made me weep. It still hurts when I think about it. Great post!

I’m sure I will. I made the terrible mistake of watching the movie first, so now I’m waiting for it to fade from my memory before I read the book! π

I still haven’t read The Book Thief ahhhh but I really want to! I’ve seen the movie and I don’t know how different the book is going to be so I might have spoiled myself for the ending already, but I still think it’ll break my heart and make me cry buckets of tears π

I forgot all about all the things we went through at the end with Clockwork Princess. I knew that epilogue was already too much, but all the stuff you mention brought back the feels. D: I’m also not emotionally prepared for The Book Thief feels. Wonderful post!!

Thank you, the epilogue kind of overshadows the rest of it so when you reread it you try and prepare yourself for it but your not prepared for the rest of it ππ
