Milk and Honey and The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur Review

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having an amazing day. I have been seeing bits of Rupi Kaur’s poetry online for a while and finally decided to pick up her both of her poetry collections.

Milk and Honey

This collection is split into four sections that all run smoothly into each other. It covers some traumatic experiences such as abuse and she did a really good job of conveying the emotions of this but it’s also about being able to use your inner strength in order to keep surviving. Overall I enjoyed this collection and gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

The Sun and Her Flowers

This collection like the other covers some powerful topics such as loss, heartache, immigration and self-love. This collection is split into 5 sections. I love how brutally honest she is in her poetry and how well she is able to convey the emotions through her word choice. I gave this collection 3.5 stars out of 5.

While I enjoyed both collections I preferred The Sun and Her Flowers as I felt some of the poems in this one were a lot more inspirational.

Have you read any of these poetry collections? What did you think of them?

  1. Oh, I’ve also seen her books around a lot, and I’ve even read some bits here and there and felt most curious!

These are two books I’m definitely gonna be reading this year ^^
