Wrap Ups and Hauls

September Wrap Up

It’s finally October Aka Halloween month. As a lover of Autumn and all things Halloween this is by far my favourite month of the year and I’m so excited it’s finally here.                   The month of September was another busy month for me first off it was my sister and dad’s birthdays, I spent a weekend in Edinburgh visiting one of my best friends for her birthday and we visited the Edinburgh dungeons. My other best friend blogged this trip and uploaded to to her booktube channel, Kimberley’s Wee Book Corner.                             I started back at university this month and as part of freshers week took part in a Marvel Movie Marathon which lasted over two nights and then went straight to comic con the day after the last night. I was very tired come Saturday night but it was so worth it.

This month I read 6 Books.

The first book I read was Winter the last in the Lunar Chronicles series. I loved this book and felt it was a great conclusion to the series. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. You can read my review here.

I also read Fairest by Marissa Meyer. This is a Lunar Chronicle novella following the story of Levana. I really enjoyed this book and hate the fact that I felt sympathy for her. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The next book I read was Stars Above by Marissa Meyer. This is a collection of short stories set in the Lunar Chronicles world. Overall I enjoyed these short stories some more than others and I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. Review to come.

I also read Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer which is a graphic novel following the story of Iko from the Lunar Chronicles. This was a really fun book to read and I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

The fifth book I read this month was And I Darken by Kiersten White. This is a gender swapped retelling of Vlad the Impaler and not in anyway a fantasy. It took me a little while to get into this book but once I did I really enjoyed it. I gave this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The last book I read this month was The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I enjoyed this book and it definialty improved as it went along. Overall I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

After buying so many books last month I decided to behave myself and bought no books this month. Though I did go to comic con this month and bought myself a Black Butler T-shirt, Marvel and The Nightmare Before Christmas artwork, an Anne Stoke journal and a Samwise Gamgee pop vinyl.

For the month of October I am going to be reading some of my more scary and gothic books.

  • The Call by Peadar O’Guilin
  • The Shining by Stephen King
  • The of Architect Song by A. G. Howard
  • House at the end of the Street by Lily Blake
  • The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

  1. It looks like you had quite a great reading month!! I really need to get started on The Lunar Chronicles. I bought the first two books awhile ago, but still haven’t read them! Same goes for And I Darken, actually. I have it sitting on my Kindle – I just need to actually start reading it, haha.
I hope you have a fantastic October and thanks so much for linking to my post! πŸ™‚
