Wrap Ups and Hauls

August Wrap Up and Haul

It’s officially autumn my favourite season of the year πŸπŸ‚πŸ. August was an extremely busy month for me. I finally finished my last placement in first year and I start second year the last week of this month which is really exciting and scary. It was my uncle’s wedding this month so the whole family travelled up to Inverness for a few days for it, squeezing 11 people into the one house and five others in a campervan in the backyard is not easy. I also finally passed my driving test this month it was my fifth time at it and I couldn’t be more relieved, the first words to come out of my mouth when the examiner passed me were “thank god”.

This month I reached 100 followers and I can’t thank you all enough. When I first started out I didn’t believe for a second I’d even get 1 so to have reached 100 is absolutely amazing and means the world to me.

I somehow managed to read 7 books this month which is a lot more than I expected since I’ve been so busy.

The first book I read was Uprooted by Naomi Novik. I have mixed thoughts about this book, one moment I’d be really into it and the next I’d loose interest in it which is why I gave it 3 stars. My review can be foundΒ here.

The next book I read was Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I enjoyed this book though I might have liked it better if I had not just read The Night Circus. I gave this 3 stars, Review to come.

The third and fourth books I read were Waistcoats and Weaponry and Manners and Mutiny by Gail Carriger the last two books in the Finishing School Series. These books were even more fun and quirky than the first books and I gave them both 5 stars. Series review to come.

The fifth, sixth and seventh books I read were Cinder, Scarlet and Cress the first three books in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I absolutely loved these books and can’t believe that its taken me this long to read the series. I gave Cinder 4 stars, Scarlet 4.25 stars and Cress 4 stars. Reviews to come.

Book Haul

I was really good last month and didn’t buy any books but this month I decided to treat myself and went a bit overboard. Which is why I’m putting myself on a book buying ban for the next few months but there’s so many great books coming out at the moments so we’ll find out how good my restraint is.

The first lot of books I bought were The Lunar Chroniclseries all apart from Cinder as I already own that one.

  • Scarlet
  • Cress
  • Winter
  • Fairest
  • Stars Above
  • Wires and Nerves Volume One
  • and the Lunar Chronicles colouring book.

The next set of books I bought were the Splintered series and the first in the Haunted Hearts Legacy by A. G. Howard.

  • Unhinged
  • Ensnared
  • Untamed
  • The Architect of Song (the cover for this book is so pretty😍)

This month I plan on reading the rest of the Lunar Chronicles Series and start the Splintered series.

  1. Thanks for mentioning my post!! Ahhh I really want the Lunar Chronicles because I know I should read them haha…When I saw the coloring book it reminded me of how I want the coloring book for ACOTAR soooo bad. I personally LOVED Caraval; was The Night Circus good? I just loved the magical setting and the whole idea of the book I thought it was insane. This sounds stupid but it was so fun to imagine…I think it could make a KILLER movie if pulled off right.

  2. Congratulations on a 100 followers! (I know I’m super late in commenting). I also didn’t love Caraval, I couldn’t even finish that book. I hope you love the rest of the Lunar Chronicles series! I love those books. Thank you so much for linking my post!
