Wrap Ups and Hauls

July Wrap Up

It’s finally the end of July and I’m exhausted. Working in an orthopaedic and trauma ward is not easy and my feet are constanly aching. overall I’m enjoying the placement and am learning a lot but I definitely can’t wait to get back to the mental health side in my next one.

I got a new puppy this month her name is Luna (sadly no one would let me call her  khaleesi) She a Sprocker Spaniel which is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Springer Spaniel and she is absolutely gorgeous, though completely hyperactive (sorry its not the best photo).

I read 5 books this month which is more than I expected as when I come home from a twelve hour shift the last thing I want to do is anything that involves using my brain.

The first book I read was Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland following the story of the Queen of Hearts before she became queen. I really enjoyed this book but also felt that there was something missing from it so I gave it 3 stars. Review to come.

The second book I read was Sublime Karma by Peyton Graver. I was given this book by the author for an honest review. It covers some deep topics such as bullying, self harm sexual abuse and suicide. I gave this book four stars. Review to come.

The third and fourth book I read was Etiquette and Espionage and Curtsies and Conspiracies by Gail Carriger. These were a reread for me and they are fun and quick reads. Great for those wanting to try steampunk.

The fifth book I read was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. This is a really whimsical and magical read with a hint of darkness. It is one of my favourite reads of the year and I gave it five stars. Review to come.

  1. I’m super intrigued to see what you think of Uprooted. I’ve seen so many amazing reviews for it. And drats about not being able to name the doggie khaleesi. Such an epic name (especially since I”m watching GoT right now. XD) But Luna is a super pretty name as well! ❤ Wonderful wrap-up, and thanks so much for including Ariel. 😉

    1. Thanks, loads of people seem to love Uprooted so I’m hopping it lives up to its hype. I’m the only Game of Thrones fan in my family so none of them understood how awesome a name Khaleesi would have been. Your welcome 😀😀

  2. YOUR DOG IS SO CUTE!!! COCKER SPANIELS ARE MY FAVORITE but I’m allergic to dogs. 😥 I’ve been meaning to read Heartless — I’m sort of scared since I’ve heard mixed reviews — and also The Night Circus. It’s just such a well-loved book that I feel like I HAVE to read it! Thanks for linking my post and have a wonderful August! ❤
