Ten Things On Our Reading Wish list

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is about the things you want to read more of in books. Such as tropes, time periods, types of characters etc.

  1. Anti-hero’s                                                                                                                                     I am a sucker for morally grey characters such as Severus Snape.
  2. Victorian Period                                                                                                                     This is one of my favourite time period to read about as I find it to be so interesting and I especially love steampunk books set in this time.
  3. Faeries                                                                                                                                     These are my all time favourite mythological creatures. I find them so fascinating and if a book contains them then chances are I’m going to read it.
  4. Books containing bookish people                                                                                         I love reading books about people who also love reading. I feel like this helps me to relate more to the characters and some of my favourite fictional characters love reading such as Hermione Granger, Tessa Grey and Will Herondale.
  5. Gothic Themes                                                                                                                             I love all things gothic and most of the classic books I read are always those classed as gothic literature such as Withering Heights, Jane Eyre, Northanger Abbey and anything by Edgar Allan Poe.
  6. Books where vampires are actually evil I love reading about vampires but I’m feed up reading books were their not all evil, I need more Dracula type stories.
  7. Dark Retellings                                                                                                                           I adore retellings as I find it so interesting reading other peoples take on the original stories but I especially love when they have dark twists to them.
  8. Diversity                                                                                                                                               We need way more diverse books in this world especially those in the fantasy genre. The world we live in is diverse and so books should reflect that and unfortunately not enough do.
  9. Less insta love                                                                                                                        This is my biggest pet peeve in books as its just so unrealistic and I love slow burning love stories but there aren’t enough of them especially in YA.
  10. Assassins                                                                                                                                      I love reading books about assassins especially ones were the characters go to a school to learn how to be an assassin such as in Nevernight.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
